Shmup Archeology: Writing on the wall

I was looking for some information on a doujin called Flew FIghter, and while I was surfing I discovered this amazing Shmup list from Shmup'Em All: Le Forum.
Spanning from 1962 to 2021 its a great resource if you are looking for information on the doujin dark ages (like I am), but its also just an amazing zoomed out view to consider the genre from. You can see the waxing and waning of different hardware and platforms, and in your minds eye you can see the styles and tropes changing as you work your way through the titles.
It also has a really nice genre/system key (separating up verts, hori, gallery, rail, etc) so you can do a quick filter.
I'll let you know if I find any hidden gems that are worth talking about.
