[Grainy CRT TV - Space monsters in costumes threaten a group of schoolchildren until a kid wearing a red and blue space pilots uniform bursts into the convenience store and blasts them all with lasers from a gun which is in actuality a game cartridge.

A Japanese voiceover excitedly proclaims the virtues of this newest Famicom title while the kid plays the game on a TV and the saved students watch on with amazement and awe. Scenes from the game are shown while the features of 'high speed space fighting' and 'colour shield transformation' are extolled as the newest possible innovations in the genre. Finishing with a catchphrase and the hero thrusting the cartridge towards the camera. From HudsonSoft]

STG Shmups (@STGshmups) drew my attention to this one - soo good and very excited for more. Gana Blade I think surprised a lot of us with how awesome it was and the haven't-played-it-because-it's-run-and-gun G Warrior has such attractive visuals I might just try it anyway. And now out of nowhere we already have a 2 stage demo for a follow-up vert tentatively titled Red Blue Cells.

Leaning more into the Recca 8-bit style and colour palette works so well for the aesthetic that LKKGAME has established, and I'm already enjoying the different take on the colour flipping mechanic (with the warning signposting etc) which makes things a little less memorisation heavy.

Grab and try the demo yourself via this YouTube page.
