#shmupmedia: Mars Express

NB: #ShmupMedia was a thing that I did on my IG - basically wider forms of media that resonate with the themes and aesthetics of the shmupverse and so I think people who enjoy shmup culture would appreciate them.

Mars Express riffs on a bunch of sci-fi classics, but the particular future aesthetic and the world built (which mixes androids, human reproductions, bio computer creatures and space liners which feel like international flights) provides a unique and very tactile reality that shmuppers I think would appreciate. The overall sensibility, with 'real intersolar space travel', feels the most like the scenarios presented in games like Sōkyūgurentai or Viper Phase 1.
